Difference of Opinion in Islam. (Ikhtelaf Vs Ifteraq)

#Ikhtelaf (Differing) versus #Ifteraq (Splitting) in Islam.

When there is difference of opinion among fellow muslims in the matter of religion, it is an Ikhtelaf (Difference). As long as it is with the right intentions and both are truly trying to reach the ultimate truth then both of them are rewarded for this Ikhtelaf (Difference). Even though, one or both could be wrong, but they are still rewarded because their intentions are good and they are trying to reach the truth.

However, if this Ikhtelaf (Difference) is done with wrong intentions or during the Ikhtelaf (Difference), there is lack of patience in one or both sides then there is a chance of the Devil hi-jacking the Ikhtelaf (Difference) and taking it into the realms of Ifteraq (Splitting).

Ifteraq (Splitting) is not allowed in Islam. It is a direct disobedience of Allah and a sin. (Wa’tasimoo Bi Hablillahi Jameeaw wala Tafarraqoo).

May Allah protect us from Ifteraq (Splitting) and guide us to the right path.
