Why Humans Disappoint?

It is not so uncommon to come across human beings who are “hurt”, “betrayed” or “disappointed” with fellow human beings. I haven’t seen a survey on this but I think the percentage of people who have had this gruelling experience in life, at least once, would be quite high.

Why is that?? Why it it that you do everything for someone, but he/she forgets, ignores and disappoints. Why??

Lets ask the One who created this amazing machine that we call “Human Beings”. After all, it is only natural to consult The Manufacturer, when a machine malfunctions or disappoints. And we are blessed that we have The Complete Manual for this machine called humans in the form of Quran. The word of Allah revealed on His Last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Mankind_is_ungrateful

اور وہی ہے جس نے تمہیں زندگی بخشی پھر تمہیں موت دیتا ہے پھر تمہیں (دوبارہ) زندگی دے گا۔ بیشک انسان ہی بڑا ناشکر گزار ہے،

Allah reminds us of one of His biggest favours on us in Surat Al-Haj Verse 66 that He is the one who gives us life and death and then tells us in no uncertain terms that we human beings are ungrateful.

In Surat Ibrahim, verse 34 Allah reiterates the same fact again.

MankindUngrateful2

Being ungrateful is the nature of mankind. We forget the countless blessings of the very Allah that gave us life. If human is ungrateful to its own Creator then I suppose, being ungrateful to fellow humans is not that big a deal.

So what to do??

Stop having expectations from fellow humans (try). Do not be good to others because you want them to be good to you, be good to others because Allah wants you to be good to others. Be good unconditionally.

Not expecting from fellow human beings does not mean that one stops having good relationships with people. It just means that minimize your expectations in relations. Fulfil all your duties towards others, as best as you can but that should not make you believe that you deserve something back from that human. If you have have fulfilled your duty towards others, then you do deserve good, but from Allah, not from humans.

And there is One with Whom, you can have expectations. He will never disappoint. You can bet your life that He will never disappoint. Sooner or later, Allah will pay it all back and then you will know that this was the best time for this. He will actually pay you back manifold. More than you can ever imagine.

Have expectations from Allah. Have expectations “only” from Allah.

May Allah help us purify our intentions, so that all our good deeds are for only Allah’s pleasure. May Allah keep us safe from all kinds of disappointments and keep us strong if we do end up having one.

Ameen.
